anyone have or tried one of these? I'm thinking of getting one but hate to invest if it's not very good. I have a straightening iron and thought of using it on low heat, but I think the residue from hair/products might mess up the ribbon

Why not wash it with alcohol?

I honestly can't say I ever found a need to straighten my ribbon. Either it goes through the Xyron or is glued or tacked down somehow, so the need never arose.

They have similar mini irons that they use in quilting, and my mom has one. She loves it for her applique, but to me that's totally different.

If you're serious, I'd check the pricing in the different departments, as I've found other 'scrappy' items for less in the 'quilting' department.

Barbara's idea of cleaning the straightener with solvent -- good idea!

I don't know anything about that one in particular, but I know a couple of people who got this one when it first came out and said they loved it!

I have one and don't love it, Sheri. If I had to do it over again, I'd pass. I wouldn't use my hair straightener either, though, as I'd be afraid it would melt the ribbon onto the wand. If you try the latter, let me know how it goes. :)

I've used my hair straightener with no problems whatsoever. I suppose you could actually (gasp!) use a real iron, too.

I've used a light bulb on the few occasions when I needed to get kinks out of ribbons. Too cheap to buy a tool just for the purpose LOL

I think that my hair wand is way too hot, and frankly I would be worried about ruining it. I just use a regular old iron. It's out practically every day anyway!

What's a regular old iron?
