Welcome to a new week, everyone!
Wow, yesterday was quiet - everyone must have been watching the Oscars or fighting with Cablevision to restore ABC! ;)
We celebrated my eldest son's birthday and my sister's birthday yesterday, over at Mom's house, and had fun.
One of my gifts to my son was a mini album featuring some photos he had taken of Graffiti while he was in HS. I used the Extreme kit from January 2007 (see, you never know when these kits that don't immediately fit your needs will come in handy!)
It turned out to be really awesome, and he loved it. He's looking forward to showing it to his friends. The photos look so much better in this little album than they would have on a 12x12 page, it's interesting to see that. I'll post some pics later.
This morning I'm about to dash off for a library up in North Jersey (you guys may not realize that New Jersey has all these alternate names: North Jersey, South Jersey, Central Jersey, East Jersey, West Jersey, and Down the Shore). East and West Jersey are historic names and not in general use, but are still sometimes useful when referring to areas of the state.
Anyway, it will be an hour drive, and I'm getting pretty sick of hour drives since this is the fourth one in four days! I'm hoping, hoping, hoping that we wrap it all up early, because it will be an hour drive back home, too.
What's going on for you today? This week? What are you working on? What are you watching on television, or teaching or learning in school, or shopping for or seeking creative boosts with? |

Hey everyone!!!!! Had a great weekend - had a visitor that hasn't been by in forever come visit - Mr. Sunshine! Yep - we saw that sun for a whole weekend and I even got a little burned on my face. It felt so good.......
Finally finished my mosaic LO and now are ready to start on the sketch but this stomach bug is vicious and has gotten the whole family in its grips. My my dd that is pregnant and Brant have it - I'm staying away and letting Brett take care of them - he's really doing a great job! My son-in-laws have proven to be excellent young men - I'm so proud of them!!
Saturday, it was finally dry enough for my dd and SIL to get the concrete poured for their new shed - it's been formed up for 8 weeks waiting on Mr Sunshine to show up on a weekend - LOL! DH and some other family, including Stevie's 81 yr old Poppa, showed up to help and thank God his uncle knew what he was doing and kept everyone in line. It looks great and I got some pics that I will have to scrapbook...Then on to high school baseball game - one of the girls I work with has a son that plays and I have been dying to see him in action. They played my Alma Mater so dh and I went - just to see Goula get their tails whipped - oh well!! David played well and almost 200 pics later that games were over and I was tired....
Yesterday was a lazy day - kids took baby out for a boat ride and she loved it!! Grilled with the kids last night (except for sickies) and now back to the real world. In fact, if I don't get off here and get ready I'm gonna be in trouble!! I have to be at work in less than a hour - LOL....
Everyone have a great week!!!!!!! Anne, hope you get finished early and out of there for good....Stay safe. |

mornin' everyone! Glad the Hurt Locker won last night; it's about time we had a female director win. I went to bed about 10, though, and didn't stay up for all of it.
Where did the weekend go? I guess it was the bull riding show (fun!), taking care of mom, and basketball for DS. Thankfully, BB is now over. Now I'm doing double time on work for a couple of days, as I leave Wed for sunny southern California until next Monday, then have the rest of next week off for spring break before mom moves in with us.
Hope everyone is healthy. Looks like spring is actually going to happen - we got some sun, too! |

We're all feeling better around here, finally. DH came home from his business trip to GA late Friday night and seemed like he might be getting sick, but after a couple of days, he seems to have mostly warded it off. Good for him. I wouldn't wish anyone to feel as miserably sick as we all have for the last 3 weeks.
I got 4 layouts done Friday night/Saturday morning and posted them all to the gallery. That felt good! We will be busy with schoolwork this week, plus cheerleading and basketball practice this afternoon and evening.
No other commitments this week, though, until Saturday, so that's a relief. Hopefully, that means I can scrapbook on Friday when we're all done with school. I did a big grocery trip to Wally World yesterday and took a big delivery from Schwan's, too (I haven't been ordering since DH changed jobs in January), since they gave me a $10 off $50 coupon, plus I had another $2 coupon from doing one of their surveys. Then a new delivery guy shows up, and I complain that they changed routes 'cause I loved my regular delivery guy I've had for years, so the new guy threw in a one gallon collectible tin of chocolate mint chip ice cream for free! Way cool! It was some Nascar tin. Don't care about that, but love the free ice cream!
Well, gotta run and get the kiddies going with their schoolwork since we have a short day. Hope everybody has a great day! |

Morning Ya'll, I wasn't feeling well this weekend but did manage to get one LO done and, as I posted with my LO, found a new use for my Cricut, using the tag accesory. I hadn't ever used it before and I like it. I also discovered via YouTube that I can use my Cuttlebug for cutting felt. Now, I can make little barrettes for Scarlett since I have a die for a flower. I tried to cut flowers of various sizes but the bigger dies seem to cut the best.
Then, I started to get moving on Saint Patrick's Day cards. My dh said, "What?" but it's a good excuse to make/lift a new card! I'll post it when I am done. I was surprised to actually find TWO shamrocks amongst all of my carts! FYI, there's a great one in "A Child's Year" and, oops, I can't remember the other one. If anyone wants to know, let me know and I'll find it again.
I also worked on my quilling and managed to produce my first rose :0) I can see that it's not the best rose in the world but it's mine and I'm proud of it. I think that I will make a couple more and then just cut some stems from "A Walk in the Garden" cart; maybe I'll make some quilled swirls....
So, this week is taxes -- UGH---- St. Paddy's day cards, working on the patchwork for one of the contests, and bugging my daughters to send pictures! My boss will be arriving soon....See ya! |

Connie, I am having to do brunch in Thousand Oaks and dinner in Vista, so it wouldn't work to connect anyhow. Crazy schedule. The brunch is with ladies who will hopefully host an event for us, so I may have a date for my next trip soon. I hope your retreat is great.
It's about 60 degrees. Even if it is starting to drizzle, at least it's not freezing! I hate spring allergies, but am ready for a spring wardrobe, for sure.
Kelly, what's your favorite thing from Schwann? I've not ordered in a long time, but am thinking I may do it again. He comes directly to campus and we can use the building's fridge/freezer for storage. |

Favorites from Schwan's...
We love their French baguette bread. You get 3 loaves in a bag, frozen, for $4.99. It goes straight from the freezer to the oven (no thawing required) and bakes in 15 minutes at 350. Voila! Delicious, crusty fresh bread to go with dinner. Yum! A loaf is just enough for my gang of 5 to go with a meal.
We also really enjoy their haddock squares. They are expensive, but fish is expensive everywhere. They are really thick breaded fillets and bake up nicely in the oven. The kids and hubby love the ham and cheese omelets, too. Those are the 3 things we buy most often. My 10 year old also likes the Bright Starts bacon breakfast pizzas.
For treats, all of their ice cream is delicious. I also like their strawberry fruit bars. I used to get those when I was pregnant. And we have one of those Slushie machines and found that their concentrated drink syrups make wonderful slushies and only require a little bit.
If you sign up to answer their email surveys, you get $2 off your order for every survey you complete, and they only take a minute to do. Usually, you review a potential new product and tell them what you think of the idea and the price.
I just tried their Cinnamon ice cream because it's on sale right now for half price...only $2.50 for a half gallon. It was really good! It would be fabulous over some hot apple pie. |

I think we're all on the mend!! Brian's still got an awful cough...but other than that I think we're better. I messed up my back again yesterday...horrible sleeping last night. I was going to go walking today - shocked Brian - because that makes it feel better. However, our nice weather at 9 am was gusty wind and cold and hailing at 10 when Grace was up from her nap. Scratch that walk. Tried again at 1 to go pick up Joshua from school, but it was just too cold for Grace. It's been snowing and hailing off and on all afternoon. I did do some stretching exercises with a yoga/pilates DVD I've had for years and that helped the back. I need to get teh resistance band thingie it talks about so that I can do more of the exercises...and find a time when Grace is sleeping...it was hard to do curls etc. with a 15 lb 5 1/2 month old laying on my chest!
Still no scrapping has happened here. Maybe sometime this week. We'll see. We don't do Schwanns very much here...my grandparents used to years ago. We got a few things at the beginning of the school year because it was a fundraiser for the PTO. If I had money and my own frig/freezer etc. I'd get some of the different juice bars and juices and there was something else that sounded good. Maybe someday. Well, I'd better go...Brian should be home any minute so we can have our Family Home Evening...we do it early before grandparents are home and before Nathaniel is too tired and it works so much better. As soon as that's done I'll get dinner cooking - it shouldn't take too long. Teriyaki chicken and broccoli - with noodles. Brian made it last week with rice and Joshua wouldnt' eat it because he doesn't like rice (crazy kid!) so we're trying it with noodles and see if he likes it better.

Kelly, thanks for the Schwann's tips. I've ordered from them on and off over the years and it's one of the things I gave up when I decided to go frugal and get out of debt. At this point, it's convenient and worth it for some meals. I love their peach ice cream - will have to try the cinnamon. I gave mom a $50 certificate for there for Mother's Day and she loved the meals she got - it made her life a bit easier.
It's dreary now. I just keep thinking about being in southern cal in a few days....unfortunately, I have a lot of work to do before I leave. |

okay, so maybe I bragged a little too early about the sunshine! Bad storms predicted here for tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday - I guess we just can't ever catch a break!! This is the South and I need some Spring Break weather people...
Beth, sorry about your back - hope you get to feeling better soon.
Kelly - never ordered from Schwan's. I've seen their trucks but never have thought about ordering from them - what exactly do they have? I thought they had meats but didn't realize that they had meals and ice cream and such. I may just have to look into that. I have thought about Dream Dinners and such but never quite got around to it as I hate having to cook when I get home at 5 or so....
Connie - hope the shower goes well.
Terri - enjoy the trip to CA!!
Hope to work on the sketch this week - thinking some wedding pics maybe?? |

Kelly - i will take that NASCAR tin off you hands if you want.
Barbara - paper dolls has a shamrock.
Has anyone ever heard of a triptych. It is an ATC in that is trifolded or 3 panel. I am doing a swap that have the shape of a house. Need to create them. Looking for ideas. I did do 10 ATCs the other day - fairies.
Need to go make dinner and charge the Laptop. |

Never heard of that, Jen. I assume you guys are doing well; good to see you.
Anne and Tobey, check Arden's FB page - her mom had a bad stroke and the prognosis is poor. I feel so sorry for her.
Angela, Schwann's has all kinds of stuff - frozen mostly. Meals, veggies, pizza, drinks, appetizers, but the best is the ice cream :-)
DS finally went to bed early. Ever since the bull riding show Friday night when he stayed up past midnight, he's been so tired but has awakened early every morning. I had lunch with him at school and he was so tired. I put him in bed early and he finally went out. I bet he'll be hard to waken tomorrow; when he finally gets a full night, he's a serious sleeper. I think I may have to send him to dad's tomorrow to help me get work done. I sure miss him when I travel, but this time I have four days off from work after the trip for spring break together, which helps. We need to do something fun - don't know what yet.
Anyone have Just Dance on the wii? We're making fools of ourselves... |

I so want a Wii! I think I just might exercise if I had one. This week I'm doing opening circle everyday at preschool and Wednesday my professor comes for a site visit. I'm kinda nervous. We're going to be mixing paint to see what colors it makes. Next week I'm doing opening circle and a small group. Oh so fun!
I graduate May 13th. PARTAY!!! I know I'm going to have my mom, brother, and the boyfriend and his mom and sisters out for dinner for my graduation. It should be really fun as our families have never met. We've been together for 3 years and it will be the first time. It's crazy I know but both of our mom's are homebodies. That could be why.
My college has spring break next week but I'm working through it since preschool will have theirs in April, so mine doesn't officially start til Easter. I can't wait! We've had awesome weather all weekend but today was the first day I didn't need a jacket! I love it!
Have a good night ladies. Hope all is well and have safe trips! |

Congratulations Stevie!!! I know that you are so excited about graduation! I remember that feeling very well - with myself and all my girls. That is cause for some serious celebrating!!
Jen - which paper dolls cartridge has the shamrock, dress up or everyday?
Teri - glad your little man is finally getting some rest - B is like that. Once he gets so tired, he just continues to wind up, and up and up until he finally crash and burns. Have fun on the Wii - we have the X Box 360 - got a deal I couldn't pass up - $199 with a $100 gift card to Wal-Mart. Kinda wish we had the Wii - looks like some neat games but with no kids left at home dh is the only one who plays so the X Box is fine. |

Hi, everyone! It's so cool to read about all the creative things you are doing, and all the deals you are finding. I've never heard of Schwann's so I guess we don't have them here. It sounds wonderful. :)
I won't comment on everyone, but it's good to get updated on all the news - although I confess I had to read back quite a ways and then read forward again before I understood Jen's last post! LOL!
Our workshop yesterday went really well, and I got home around 4:00 p.m. Strange, though, that my GPS took me to the wrong place! The address it listed for the library turned out to be the Board of Ed offices, which actually look like they were the library at one time! My GPS is only a year old, and when I got to the real library (punching in the address instead of using the community points of interest), it was obvious that it had been there for some time. Hmmm .... DH said to see if I can report it on the GPS website.
Last night I cleaned up the scrap studio and started a mini book that will list my Copics colors, and caught up on The Amazing Race episodes, which I missed during the Olympics.
Today it's back to my regular routine. Have a great day, everyone!
Did anyone get their March kit yet? I'll have to check the tracking on mine - it should get here this week. I can't wait to see the new cardstock designed by StoryTellers! |

I got my March kit a couple of days ago; can't wait to work on it. I finished my St. Paddy's Day cards last night. I'll post one of them tonight. Connie, do you watch TV? If yes, then you can quill! My next card will contain quilling, just for you! I've successfully quilled one flower; I'll do another one tonight just for you and then I'll try a butterfly. Then, I'll have the simple components of a card and I'll put it together just so that you can see how easy it is to do in front of the television. It's just rolling up the paper. Do you have a tray to put the rolled papers into? You do need one of those. I shop at quillingsuperstore.com; sometimes, they have good sales. Anyway, after you makes the little rolled papers all the same size and glue them, you just squeeze one little end and, poof, you've got a petal! Then, you make a bunch. Make one little roll and glue it shut and you've got a center of the flower. Glue them all together and you've got a simple flower :0)
My dh is SO stubborn with dial up v. broadband. He was mad last night at TurboTax because it took him almost 3 hours to download the upgrade from the disk he bought. He said that they should have printed that an upgrade would take a long time with dialup; I told him that "we" are in the minority because most people have broadband and he just wouldn't accept that -- big sigh.... anyway, I guess tonight we start with the taxes. He thinks it won't be too difficult; I just have to do the typing - we're not very complicated financially!
An update on Jill at the office. I'm really getting tired of being cordial. I greet her every day and cheerfully say goodbye and am cheerful whenever I have to talk to her. She returns any conversation very sullfully - is that even a word? I'm tiring of it. I'm getting to the point that I really don't care. Now that I know what she really thinks of me, why should I care. She care stay in her office and we can talk if we must but, why should I work at being friendly? Tomorrow, it'll be a week that she accused me of backstabbing her. I AM making an effort and that's what I am tiring of...
My next project is for Easter: My middle daughter, the mother of Scarlett used to absolutely LOVE Cadbury Eggs --too sugary for me! I bought 4 tiny little (I'm being redundant but they are so cute!) plastic pails. I am going to decorate them and, on the inside, I am going to put some fake grass and a Cadbury Egg for each recipient. My kids will think I am NUTS, but then, they already know that :0) I'll also include a little egg with tiny M&M's for Scarlett. I bought some stickers and a stamp of an Easter Egg. I'll just stamp the stamp on white paper and color it in (sure wish I had the Easter Cart!) and then run it through my Xyron and stick it on each pail. Am I just a NUTTY mother or a CARING mother????
Lunchtime is over! All who feel crappy, my hip is there with you! May we all feel better :0) Connie, I'm quilling for ya! |

I love Cadbury Eggs, Barbara...I'd never think it was nutty if my mom gave me one. (Actually, my mom loves them too and we'd probably end up fighting over who got the last one. My grandparents actually mailed me some for the Easter I was on my mission...loved it).
Our taxes are done and our tax guy should be efiling them today because I faxed him back the papers that we signed. We are getting a very nice return...Brian and I should both be able to afford to go to the dentist and also get the car fixed :) WE've never had our taxes done this early - it feels great!
Today was sewing day tat the church...and no one was there! I had to go fax the tax stuff as well as stuff trying to get Brian relieved of Federal Jury Duty next month (it's 300 miles from here to Sacramento, that alone is a hardship...on top of that, there's no way he can miss a possiblity of 2-3 weeks of class...a friend of ours here was just down in Sac last month for a Fed. Jury case and was gone 3 1/2 weeks. She came home on weekends. They must be getting desperate if they're summoning people all the way up here to go down there for things!), then to the post office and then to pay a bill. Went to the church and the car of one of the regulars was there, but the church was locked and dark. Wish someone would've called me and told me they weren't having it. I'd have left the kids home with my mom, ran and done my errands and been back before she went to work without having to have loaded kids, supplies and playpen in the car.
So anyway, once I got home, got Grace down for a nap and switched laundry I did some of the mending I'd been going to do there...fixed a stuffed duckling that was losing its wings and also sewing buttons on a sweater that were falling off. Whenever I get her down for another nap I'm going to embroider on my sister's birthday gift for a bit. Cold and overcast today...finally hit 40 about noon...it was 20 this morning! Snow is supposed to hit around 6 tonight and last until morning - we'll see.
