Hey there! I'm a new memeber & lovin my new kit. Just one question...I want to stamp on some of the die cuts in my kit but I'm not sure which type would be the best with the glossy paper.
Thanks for any incoming input!

Noelle :)

Stamping on die cuts can be tricky due to the glossy finish, but some work well, such as Tim Holtz alcohol inks or Staz-on. You can also 'rough-up' the surface before stamping, a little sandpaper, or such.

Good advice, Di! I didn't realize the Tim inks would work - I always use Stayzon (with no problems, I might add).

And a huge welcome to StoryTellers, Noelle! We're glad you're here.

Anne only the Alcohol inks work well, the distress ink is still the same as other inks unless you heat emboss with it.

He gave some of the best tips for using those and for the Distress ink pads in the instructions for his Twelve Tags of Christmas. My favorite was to smear the Distress ink pads on your craft sheet (a teflon sheet similar to the ones used in baking - Ink Essentials has one carried by AC Moore, and Bazzill calls theirs a 'splat mat'), then spritz with water from a mister to make beads (or droplets) of color form. Place your tag or paper face down on it to pick up the color. The result is really cool! Tim gives better instructions on his blog (timholtz dot com).

I love watching those. ...sigh...
He makes it all look so effortless. I always learn something that I will wind up using. Did you happen to see the one about making a custom ink pad for multicolored stamps? Really cool. As for the alcohol inks. I love them & I always wind up with at least one finger or the side of my hand festive looking for a few days. I am up to 8 colors of the distress ink pads now with 2 more on back order. I reach for these daily.

Lol, my granddaughter was asking for a 'lesson' today. So she asks "How do I get this ink off my hands?"

Bathe -- many days. ,-)

When her layout is done, I'll have to post a pic.

StazOn works fab on the die cuts. You can also use heat embossing as well for a fun look.
